Stuff and tiny, squishy garbage-themed characters named after the icky, stinky delights found in the trash – The Trash Pack™ from Moose Toys®.

“Our team worked around the clock to get our Johnson City store ready to reopen, and we are thrilled that we were able to complete this renovation in time to provide holiday shoppers with the best and broadest assortment of toys and gifts for the children in their lives,” said Troy Rice, Senior Vice President, Store Operations, Toys“R”Us, U.S. “We know that we have loyal customers in the area who have been eagerly awaiting the store’s reopening, and we will offer them great deals on the hottest toys of the year in the coming weeks.”

In conjunction with the store’s reopening, Toys“R”Us, Inc. has donated $5,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome. The store will host parents of 25 children from the Boys and Girls Club for a shopping spree, during which they will be able to pick out some of the gifts that top their kids’ wish lists this holiday season. Several families participating in the shopping spree lost personal possessions as a result of recent flooding in the area.

Parents and gift-givers can shop Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us from 12 noon to 1am on Friday, November 18, 7am to 12 midnight on Saturday, November 19 and 8am to 10pm on Sunday, November 20. From Monday, November 21 through Wednesday, November 23 the store will be open from 8am to 11pm. Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us Johnson City will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but will reopen at 9pm that night for the official kickoff of the holiday shopping season – Black Friday – and remain open through 10pm on Friday, November 25.

Originally opened in November 1988 as a stand-alone Toys“R”Us location, the Johnson City store was remodeled in 2006 as one of the company’s first Side-by-Side stores with Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us together under one roof. This integrated store format is now an ongoing strategy for the world’s leading dedicated toy and juvenile products retailer to bring two trusted brands together under one roof. The new store’s design provides customers with a streamlined shopping environment that is easy-to-navigate and showcases the exclusive and private brand product offerings customers have come to expect.

Since the company embarked on its integrated store strategy in 2006, it has converted more than 100 stores in the United States to the Side-by-Side format. In 2010, the company opened its first brand new Side-by-Side locations bringing Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us to more communities across the country. The integrated store format provides an exceptional shopping convenience for time-strapped parents, offering a wide selection of juvenile products and toys, including exclusive offerings that can only be found at “R”Us® stores.

A Foundation in Sustainable Building

Beyond the store’s broad assortment of playthings for kids of all ages, Toys“R”Us/Babies“R”Us Johnson City has been remodeled to include a number of sustainable features with the goal of conserving energy and reducing the store’s overall impact to the environment in the Johnson City-area.

These features include:

A state-of-the-art Energy Management System (EMS) that monitors environmental conditions and adjusts temperature, lighting and CO2 levels throughout the store in order to utilize natural light and reduce energy consumption
Energy efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) fixtures in outdoor signage instead of florescent signage, which increase energy savings and reduce toxic materials and maintenance costs
Low-flow water closets and urinals and automatic faucets and flush valves, which conserve water
High efficiency automatic hand dryers that use 80% less energy than standard hand dryers while eliminating the need for paper towel products and therefore lessen the impact on landfills
A cardboard baler that facilitates recycling and reduces the impact on landfills
Low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) paint and floor adhesive are used during construction because they produce little odor during application and no lingering odor once cured
A vestibule entry way system reduces the amount of outside contaminants being tracked into the store interior, while helping to increase indoor air quality
