Attendees Pledge Nearly $140,000 Additional to Assist the Special Olympics Young Athletes™ Program

WAYNE, NJ (April 30, 2010) – Last night, leaders from the toy and baby products industries joined together to celebrate the silver anniversary of the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund Gala in New York City. The Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund is a public charity affiliated with Toys“R”Us, Inc., and during this special evening of entertainment and fundraising the event raised nearly $4.5 million to keep children safe and help them in times of need. The Gala’s 25th anniversary milestone event was hosted by Emmy® and Tony Award®-winning comedian Martin Short, and featured a dazzling performance by five-time GRAMMY® award-winner Faith Hill.

Additionally, Gala attendees pledged nearly $140,000 to support the Special Olympics Young Athletes program, which introduces children ages two through seven with intellectual disabilities to the world of sport. Donations made during last night’s event will be directed to Special Olympics to: provide young athletes and their families with a full sports training kit; assist in training Young Athletes, families, educators and volunteers; help fund local Young Athletes programs; and make possible a Young Athletes experience at major state-wide level events, national events, regional events or even the World Games.

“In 1985, our company first gathered friends from the toy and baby products industries with a simple goal of giving back to children who need help most. Last night’s Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund Gala marked the 25th anniversary of what has become a beloved tradition in our industry and a celebration of how much we love kids,” said Jerry Storch, Chairman and CEO, Toys“R”Us, Inc. “Thanks, in part, to the generosity of our business partners throughout the years, the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund donates millions of dollars each year to programs that keep children safe and help them in times of need.”

Charitable Giving
Since its inception, the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund has raised more than $90 million help organizations and programs that positively impact the lives of children, including those that provide disaster relief to children and families who are victims of large-scale crises.
Highlights of the company’s philanthropic partnerships during the past year include:

Providing Millions of Holiday Smiles to Children in Need
In 2009, Toys“R”Us, Inc. and the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund teamed up with four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal to help Toys for Tots bring toys and smiles to America’s neediest children. The partnership was inspired by Shaq’s annual visits to Toys“R”Us stores on Christmas Eve to purchase toys for children living in poverty. The nine-week in-store and online fundraising program raised over $3.4 million and nearly 335,000 toys for the organization. To jumpstart the annual campaign, the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund provided the charity with a $250,000 grant. As the largest retail partner in the history of Toys for Tots, Toys“R”Us, Inc. has raised more than $20 million and collected nearly 2.7 million toys since 2004.

Helping to Solve the Autism Puzzle
Over the past four years, customer contributions through in-store fundraising, donations from Toys“R”Us, Inc., employee participation in the Walk Now for Autism Speaks program and grants from the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund have contributed $5.5 million to Autism Speaks. The 2010 program is currently underway, and this year Toys“R”Us, Canada has joined the fundraising efforts. This marks the first time in the company’s extensive philanthropic history that its store networks across North America have joined forces for a unified charitable endeavor. To kick off this year’s partnership, the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund awarded Autism Speaks a $400,000 grant.

Rebuilding the Lives of Children
In 2009, Toys“R”Us, Inc. launched Bundled in Hope, an at-register campaign benefiting Save the Children, a humanitarian aid agency creating lasting change in the lives of children in need. The campaign raised $1 million to help the organization purchase blankets for babies living in poverty and provided monetary support for Save the Children’s U.S. programs. The Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund kicked off the campaign with a $250,000 grant. Since 1988, the “R”Us family has given K.I.D.S. nearly $40 million in product donations from its corporate office, distribution centers and stores nationwide. In addition, Toys“R”Us, Inc. and the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund again partnered in 2009 with Safe Kids USA, the first organization solely dedicated to preventing unintentional childhood injury, to provide actionable safety tips to parents and caregivers on critical car seat safety.
