Make a Difference with Toys"R"Us & Lin-Manuel Miranda this Holiday Season!

My father-in-law, Carlos, just returned from a rescue mission to Puerto Rico – to save his own mom. Like most of the island, her hometown of Vieques had been ravaged by Hurricane Maria. And since Puerto Rico had been without any phone or internet connection, Carlos couldn’t reach her for weeks following the hurricane. Without confirmation, he flew from New Jersey to Vieques and showed up at her door not knowing what he would find. Fortunately, his mom was safe, but her neighbors and so many others on the island haven’t been as lucky – many are still suffering through the aftermath of Maria into this holiday season.

I knew I wanted to help those on the island after hearing stories of Carlos’s trip, especially during the holidays when I knew so many wouldn’t be celebrating as they usually would.

That’s where Toys“R”Us comes in.

Toys“R”Us has joined forces with Lin-Manuel Miranda – Tony Award winner and creator of Hamilton and In the Heights – to launch Toys 4 Puerto Rico, a campaign that provides toys, and most importantly, smiles and a sense of normalcy for the holidays, to the children affected by the devastation in Puerto Rico.

What makes this partnership so special? Toys purchased off our Toys 4 Puerto Rico registry will be hand-delivered directly to kids affected by Hurricane Maria on Three Kings Day – one of the most important holidays in Puerto Rico and across Latin America. For those unfamiliar, Three Kings Day honors the gifts given by the Three Wise Men to Jesus Christ, and families celebrate through generous gift-giving.

The best part is that anyone can help – including you!

Supporters can visit Toysrus.com/Toys4PuertoRico now through January 2 and give a gift of $5, $10, and $20, which will be used to purchase toys from a selected list that will be given to kids of all ages. On Saturday, January 6 – Three Kings Day – the toys will be distributed to children across the island, bringing joy to kids and families where it’s needed most.

All you have to do is visit the website, it is really that easy, and it feels great to help make a difference.
