In cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Commission, Summer Infant, Inc., Woonsocket, RI, announces a recall to replace rechargeable batteries used with Slim & Secure™ Handheld Color Video Monitors due to overheating and rupturing with potential burn and property damage hazards.

Hazard: The battery can overheat and rupture, posing a burn hazard to consumers.
Description: The recalled product contains batteries sold with the Summer Infant Slim and Secure Handheld Color Video Monitor, item numbers 02800 (silver version) and 02805 (pink version). The batteries are found to have date code labels on the bottom back side of the parent (receiver) unit with the following 4 digit numbers: 0907, 0908, 0909, 0911, 0912, or 1001. Batteries may be unmarked or marked with the letters MP or BK. Images of the item number and date code marking locations are depicted below.
Sold at: Babies “R” Us from September 2009 to May 2010 for $199.99.

Remedy: Consumers should check their battery marking in the recalled product and immediately stop using any unmarked battery or ones marked with MP or BK and contact Summer Infant to receive a postage paid envelope to return the defective battery in exchange for a free replacement battery.
