Company Forges Alliances with Military Employment-Focused Organizations, Launches Dedicated Military Hiring Website and Reports Hiring of 1,200 Active and Retired Military Service Members This Year


WAYNE, NJ – (November 7, 2012) – In honor of Military Family Month and Veterans Day, Toys“R”Us, Inc. today reinforced its ongoing commitment to supporting America’s military forces and their families through increased military hiring efforts and partnerships, including those organizations dedicated to helping military families whose loved ones are deployed.

Increased Hiring Efforts to Get Troops Back to Work

The company continues to bolster its initiatives to get troops back to work by actively recruiting current and retired members of the armed forces, as well as military spouses, through a number of military job boards and career fairs, as well as partnerships with military employment-focused organizations. In March, the company joined the 100,000 Jobs Mission, a coalition of leading U.S. companies committed to hiring 100,000 transitioning service members and veterans by 2020. So far this year, Toys“R”Us, Inc. has hired more than 400 veterans and military personnel at its headquarters, stores and distribution centers across the country. Additionally, in preparation for the company’s busy Christmas season, nearly 850 current and retired military service members have been hired for seasonal positions at Toys“R”Us® stores nationwide.

Further assisting veterans and transitioning service members in identifying the best job opportunities for their skill set, the company launched a Military Skills Translator today on its new dedicated Military Hiring website, Toysrusinc.com/careers/military-hiring.The translator matches military personnel with Toys“R”Us, Inc. job openings based on their core Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), as well as secondary and tertiary MOS codes, subspecialties, certifications and additional training the applicant may have obtained while serving and protecting in the U.S. military.

Company Offers Veterans Day Discount to Military Service Members

In conjunction with Veterans Day and Military Family Month, Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us® will welcome military moms, dads and family members into their stores nationwide with a special discount coupon, 20 percent off one regular-priced item*, valid from Sunday, November 11 through Monday, November 12, helping them to save during this busy gift-giving holiday season. A military ID will be required at checkout.
